Hi! I am Jamie Maglietta, aka Jamie The Producer on Instagram and YouTube.
I am a television news veteran with experience across these networks:
While producing shows I witnessed a growing interest in securing guests who were not just experts but already leaning into the news, apart of the media ecosystem and building an engaged audience online.
Not every guest needed an online presence, but it sure helped!
I remember pitching guests that were strong on paper, undiscovered gems, but their lack of an on-camera presence sent my pitches to the graveyard.
To avoid pitching a guest that was essentially killed on ideation forced me to limit my ideas to those who weighed in on Twitter (X), were quoted in the press, or showed up ON CAMERA on social media or YouTube.
In 2022, I decided if I ever started my own business that I would work with more professionals and small businesses who have the background, to become press worthy experts. I wanted to also help them fill the marketing machine by inspiring them to think like producers.
While many of US pull away from cable television and watching live news on televisions, it is important for EXPERTS to appear in the feed.
Why?
Well ask yourself these questions:
Where do you get your news?
How do you consume news?
Are you watching reports on X, Instagram, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube?
If you are getting your news from social media, do you follow traditional media there?
If you are a news junkie, or like myself, need reliable sources, I imagine your feed consists of news from the mainstays along with your favorite experts, sprinkled between your favorite foodie content creators and fitness gurus.
Now, imagine you are a television producer seeing the need to create for the scroll. WHAT credentials will help an expert stand out to the media?
Yes, professionals with the academic credentials and career background, but those already commanding your attention in the feed will likely be considered as well.

Now, I am not copying Gary Vee, but I came across this video after I crafted a workshop for realtors because a colleague of mine said I sounded like Gary Vee. Ha in this episode he preaches what I teach! I decided to share his video because in the workshop I mentioned above I brought up how it would be GREAT to have a videographer follow us around all day but we all can not afford that. His video looks INCREDIBLE and the b-roll is ON-POINT.
You can create content like this with your own camera and a tripod but you need to embrace the ick. Many people feel silly pulling out gear to shoot content like this.
However, he has inspired me to craft my own channel with more MOVEMENT and OUTSIDE Shots!
